Concerts in Tokyo of the last weekend, Part 1

Our condolences go out to all victims of the Tohoku Pacific earthquake and the subsequent tsunami.We are praying for the security of everyone in the disaster areas.We are also making every effort to be able to provide the music in believing the illimitable power of “Music”.

In this blog we report in Japanese and English the concerts held in Tokyo the last weekend.


«March 25th, fri: Lunch Time Concert»

 

On March 25th, from 11:30 AM, “Hamarikyu Lunch Time Concert vol.86” took place in “Hamarikyu Asahi Hall”, Tokyo (near Tsukiji).Masahumi Hori, violinist and concert master of NHK Symphony, played in the NHK Symphony members’ string quintet.For the encore, the five musicians played J.S. Bach's “Air on the G string” in praying for the revitalization of the disaster areas.

«March 25th, fri, evening: Italian film music concert»

 

Planned to start on March 18th and postponed because of the earthquake, the Spring Festival in Tokyo started on 23rd.

 

On March 25, from 19:00 PM, the concert “the Spring Festival in Tokyo : Homage to Nino Rota, Tribute to the master of Italian film music” took place in “Tokyo Bunka Kaikan”, in Tokyo (Ueno). Daisuke Suzuki, classic guitarist, played with Syunsuke Matsuo (guitar), Sou Kitamura (bandoneon), Hiroshi Yoshino (wood bass) and Yasuhiro Yoshigaki (drums/percussion).

They played not only masterpieces of Nino Rota like “God Father” and “La dolce vita” but also the themes from “New Cinema Paradise” by Morricone and “I Girasoli” by Mancini. We had a donation box for Tohoku at the lobby and for the encore the musicians played a piece by Toru Takemitsu who composed for many Japanese movies.

 

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the concerts’ organizers and the public who came out and gave their support.
